Two youth of Indian nationality who were deported from Sri Lanka a year ago for overstaying their Visas were nabbed by Immigration and Emigration officials at the Katunayake Airport early morning when they tried to re-enter the country and were sent back to India in the same aircraft they arrived in.

The youth who were aged 27 and 29 who had originally arrived on visas had earlier been apprehended by emigration authorities when they had overstayed their visas in addition to having engaged in illegal activities and subsequently deported for violating emigration laws.

They had arrived again in Sri Lanka early yesterday morning from Chennai by Air India Express Flight No IX 671. They were intercepted by the officials at the airport when they tried to enter the country, and an examination of their passports had revealed that the duo had been deported earlier.

When inquired from the Chief Immigration and Emigration officer Jayantha Ratnayake, he confirmed that the two Indian youth were sent back to India in the same aircraft they had arrived in. (Deepa Adhikari)
