Two fishermen rescued after pirate attack

A group of five Lankan fishermen who sailed off the coast of Devinuwara were assaulted by a group of pirates and thrown into the sea, the Police said

Two of the Lankan fishermen were handed over to the Navy after they were rescued by a  merchant vessel  , Navy Spokesman  Commander Kosala Warnakulasuirya said.

The fishermen were subsequently handed over to the Police for further investigations.

The Navy added they did not have any information regarding the other three fishermen who were alleged to have been thrown into the sea.
