Tsunami drill today

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) will conduct a tsunami drill today in coastal areas vulnerable to tsunamis, DMC Director Brigadier (ret) N. B Weragama told Daily mirror online.

He added that the drill will be conducted in 14 coastal districts at 3pm this afternoon .

The scheduled drill is aimed at preparing the public for any eventuality in tsunami prone areas including Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Ampara, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Jaffna Puttalam, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Mannar

The Disaster Management Centre requested the public not to panic and to contact the DMC to clarify any details regarding the drill.
