Train services interrupted due to strike

Train services have been interrupted due to a strike launched by the Locomotive Drivers Union and Sri Lanka Railway Technical Trade Union, Union Secretary B.S. Kamal Peiris said.

Mr. Peiris said the Sri Lanka Railway Technical Trade Union resorted to trade union action this morning and the locomotive drivers union joined the strike this afternoon.

However, Railways Superintendent  L.A.R. Ratnayake said steps have been taken to operate train services with the assistance of engine drivers who have reported for duty so that the commuters are not inconvenienced.
