The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has written to Trincomalee Urban Council Chairman and TNA member Shanmugaraja Gowri Muhunthan saying that he has been removed from the party.

Muhunthan confirmed to Daily Mirror online that he received the letter and added that he has filed legal action against the move. The letter was sent to the Trincomalee Urban Council Chairman by TNA General Secretary Mavai Senathirajah.

He was removed from the party for contesting the last elections under the All Ceylon Tamil Congress after being refused a nomination by the TNA. Muhunthan was appointed as the Trincomalee Urban Council Chairman in 2006 after contesting under the TNA ticket.

Muhunthan told Daily Mirror online that he contested under TNA since the year 2000 and had promoted the TNA and actively took part in TNA events. (Daily Mirror online)
