TN politicos in tele- talk at Parvathi’s funeral

Several pro-LTTE Tamil Nadu politicians, including Vaiko and Nedumaran addressed the funeral of slain LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran’s mother Parvathi Pillai over the phone today.

Tamil Nadu politicians Vai Gopalswamy who is commonly known as Vaiko, P. Nedumaran, Indian film director Sebastian Seeman and Tamil Poet Kasi Anandan addressed the funeral using the telephone technology.

Former TNA MP M. K. Sivajilingam who organized the funeral on behalf of the family told the Daily Mirror that the facilities were made available for the participants to listen to these speeches made over the phone.

He said these Tamil Nadu politicians and artistes vowed to support the cause of Tamil people in the North and East.

Seven TNA MPs including Suresh Premachandran, P. Saravanapavan, Sivasakthi Ananthan, Yogeswaran, Vino Noharathalingam, P. Ariyanethran and S. Sritharan took part in the funeral ritual held in Velvettithurai.

Among the former TNA MPs who participated were Gajendra Kumar Ponnambalam, S. Gajendran, Mrs. Pathmini Sithamparanathan and N. Sri Kantha.
Besides, Mr. Premachandran said government employees based in the area, NGO activists working on human rights and staff members of the Jaffna University participated  in the event. (Kelum Bandara)
