The TMVP today said that despite meeting President Mahinda Rajapakse this morning, the party has not yet decided if to contest the upcoming General Elections independently or under the UPFA ticket.

TMVP Leader and Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan speaking to Daily Mirror Online this evening said that the party would hold several more discussions with the government and other party leaders and would reach a decision early next week.

“We will do what is best for the party and see how we could secure more seats in parliament. We met the President today but will make a decision soon,” Mr. Chandrakanthan said.

He further said that he had also met several politicians in Colombo today before the party made a final decision on who it would support at the upcoming polls.
