Tiger fuel storage found

A fuel storage tank used by the LTTE in northern Sri Lanka was discovered by a special police operation team, police said.  Police spokesman S.P Prishantha Jayakody said the underground tank was discovered in the former northern rebel stronghold of Puthukudyiruppu.

The 18-feet-long and eight-feet-wide tank was carrying 25,000 liters of fuel.

The discovery came after almost one year after the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels was militarily crushed.

The troops still carry out searches in the northern districts of Kilinochchi and Mullaithivu districts for lethal military hardware held by the LTTE to conduct their over-three-decade-old separatist campaign against the government troops.  (Xinhua)
