Three wanted drug smugglers arrested in Pakistan

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Sindh Police in Pakistan arrested a notorious drug smuggler along with his two associates wanted in Sri Lanka and Thailand during a raid in the Malir Halt area in Karachi.

According to SIU chief SSP Mohammad Farooq Awan, three men identified as Khuram Shehzad, Mohammad Husnain alias Ali and Syed Faheemur Rehman Jafri were arrested by the SIU along with 1.3 kilograms of high quality heroin during a raid in Shamsi Society, The News International reported.

He said the suspects were wanted in cases pertaining to drug peddling in Sri Lanka and Bangkok. Awan said the uncle of Husnain used to tell the gang about his demand for drugs from Sri Lanka. The uncle, Mansha, is in a Sri Lankan jail with Bilal, the brother of Khurram Shehzad, on charges of narcotics smuggling.

The accused used to smuggle heroin by hiding it in capsules which the carrier ingested and took them in his abdomen.
