Three Magazine Prison inmates, who had perched themselves on the prison roof in Welikada are on the second day of their hunger strike today. The prisoners demand an immediate end to the mistreatment meted out by prison authorities.

The prisoners alleged that only those who granted favours to the authorities were considered during amnesties while the other prisoners were discriminated against.

More than 3,000 inmates had stayed away from participating in their meals yesterday in support of the protesting prisoners. (Darshana Sanjeewa)
