Sri Lanka extended their domination on the second day in Galle, declaring their first innings at 570 for the loss of just four wickets, a little over an hour after lunch.
Lahiru Thirimanne, who reached his maiden Test century in the morning session, recorded his highest first-class score while Dinesh Chandimal too scored his first Test century.
Chandimal accelerated after passing his fifty as Sri Lanka worked to a plan of getting quick runs before a predictable declaration.
