A tense situation developed in Polonaruwa following a clash between supporters of the ruling UPFA and supporters of General Sarath Fonseka. The clash took place in front of an election propaganda office of General Fonseka, sources in the area said.
Polonaruwa DIG Kithsiri Dayananda said that a special police team has been dispatched to the area to control the situation and maintain peace.
