Teargas used to control clash between political groups

Riot police were forced to use teargas to control a clash between government and opposition supporters at Kiribathgoda this morning. According to the police the clash took place when opposition supporters distributing handbills came across a group of government supporters at the Galla junction.

In the ensuing clash several vehicles were damaged. Stones and glass pieces were strewn across the streets as police reinforcements were sent to the area to maintain the peace. (SD)
