A team of officials will be deployed to Bahrain from the Sri Lankans Embassy in Kuwait to assist in the repatriation of Sri Lankans living and working in Bahrain, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. Turmoil erupted in Bahrain recently consequent to the wave of protests occurring across the Middle East.

“We are releasing a team from our Embassy in Kuwait to travel to Bahrain, assess the situation there and then assist Sri Lankans to return to the country. At the moment the Honorary Consul General is looking into the situation.  The Ministry is monitoring the situation in the Middle East in order to provide assistance to Lankans there,” Additional Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs Ranjith Uyangoda told the Daily Mirror.
