Teacher training results still not announced

The Ceylon Teachers Union yesterday charged that results of teacher training exams conducted in the country in February this year are yet to be announced. The union said this had deprived some 5000 that are currently functioning as assistant teachers of their promotion.

President of the Ceylon Teachers Union Joseph Stalin told the Daily Mirror that the delay had put these persons in difficulty as they have also lost an opportunity of obtaining a salary increment.  He said these persons are undergoing various hardships as they are forced to be contended with the Rs.3000 allowance they are entitled to.

He also that the exam itself was delayed as it was to be originally held late last year. (Yohan Perera)
