SW monsoon establishing

Southwestern monsoon conditions are gradually establishing over the island and showery weather can be expected in the Southwest quarters in the coming few days, the Meteorological Department told Daily Mirror online

Occasional showers can also be expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and Galle and Matara districts.

Fairly rough wind and sea conditions will be experienced along the Western and Southern coastlines. The Meteorological Department added that the highest rainfall for the past 24 hours was recorded from Gingathhena with 107.5 mm and Colombo had recorded 0.2 mm of rainfall. (Daily Mirror online)
