Suspended sentence for teacher kneeling politico

Former North Western Provincial Councillor Ananda Sarath Kumara was sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment suspended for seven years and was fined Rs.50,000 by the Puttalum Magistrate Court today for getting a teacher who punished his daughter to kneel down.

He was also ordered to pay Rs. 300,000 as compensation for the aggrieved party. (Hiran Priyankara)
