Three ambulances including two new vehicles belonging to the Kegalle Hospital have broken down after the use of substandard diesel, it is reported. One of the ambulances broke down at Nittambuwa while taking a patient to the National Hospital in Colombo.

When the vehicles were sent to a local garage for repairs it was found a defect in the diesel system of the three vehicles.

Of the eight ambulances only three are now reportedly available for emergency situations.

No hospital official could be communicated to clarify the situation. (Rohan Kumara)
