More than 400 students have abandoned their school and have threatened to quit their education in Ampara after their principal was allegedly transferred to another province.

The students of Damana Maha Vidyalaya in Ampara boycotted classes today on a decision taken by their parents to protest against the transfer of the school Principal Ven. Ethimale Ananda Thera.

President of the Organization to Protect the School, Ajantha Udayakumara said the Ven Thera uplifted the school which had been in a deteriorated state for a long time.

He said the children had decided to boycott their classes for a few days and had threatened to leave school on July 20 if the transfer was not cancelled.
