Strong winds to intensify

The Department of Meteorology has warned that strong winds experienced in several parts of the island today will intensify over the next two days while heavy rain is also expected in some areas.

The duty officer at the Department of Meteorology Nandalal Peiris speaking to Daily Mirror online said that winds currently traveling at 40-50 km per hour is expected to intensify to between 60-70 km per hour over the next two days.

Peiris also warned that the sea areas around the island will also be rough.
