A Sri Lankan man imprisoned in Saudi Arabia is yet to be released although his sentence has been served, according to his parents. The young man had traveled to Saudi Arabia in anticipation of a job.

When the parents of the convict inquired through the Ministry of External Affairs it was revealed that the young man had been involved, along with two other Sri Lankans, in a robbery of Jewellery worth 140,000 Saudi Riyal.

A Saudi court had sentenced him to three and a half years imprisonment and 50 lashings and his sentence came to an end in August this year, however he is still being held by the Saudi authorities, the parents claim. ( Jude Samantha )
