Heads of all state institutions have been instructed to tender their resignations, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga told Daily Mirror online. Mr. Weeratunga claimed that the move is aimed at "reconfiguring" all the state institutions.

Mr. Weeratunga claimed that calling for the resignation was a normal procedure and it was done by the government to reconfigure the state institutions.

Meanwhile Tourism Ministry Secretary George Michael told Daily Mirror online that the replacement for Bernard Gunatilaka the former Tourism Development Authority chairman has not officially been notified and until it is done, the position will be considered vacant.

Mr. Gunatilaka resigned earlier this week and was replaced by an appointment made by the Tourism Minister. The Telecom Regulatory Commission (TRC) Chairman also resigned this week.
