Sri Lankans coming home from Libya

Fifty five Sri Lankans were evacuated from Libya and taken to Cyprus and Malta and will return home soon, according to Chairman of the Foreign Employment Bureau Kingsley Ranawaka.

Thirty three of these persons had been taken to Cyprus while twenty two of them were taken to Malta by their respective employers in specially chartered flights. The group of twenty two and fifty four others that had arrived in Malta earlier will arrive in the country today while those from Cyprus arrived in the country yesterday.

Meanwhile four persons that travelled by land to Egypt were presented by the International Organisation for Migration to the Sri Lankan embassy in Cairo and the embassy facilitated their arrival in the island late Tuesday night. (Dianne Silva)
