Special traffic arrangements will be put in place for the IIFA related events scheduled to take place in Colombo between Thursday and Saturday while security will also be strengthened around at some locations in Colombo.

Director General for the Media Center for National Security (MCNS) Lakshman Hulugalla told Daily Mirror online that security around the BMICH at Baudhaloka Mawatha, the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo and the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Kollupitiya would be strengthened due to the Bollywood stars being present at these three locations from June 3 to the 5.

However he said that other than in these three locations, there would be no road closures elsewhere and the public would not have to face any inconvenience.

“Of course there will be some security concerns around the main locations where the events are going to take place since hundreds of people are expected for the IIFA events over the next few days. However there will be no road closures leading to public places in and around Colombo and the public will not be inconvenienced,” Hulugalla said.

Over a 100 Bollywood stars are expected to arrive in the country from today and will participate in events such a fashion show which will take place at the BMICH on Thursday, a cricket match which will be played at the SSC grounds on Friday and the main IIFA awards which will take place at the Sugathadasa Stadium on Saturday evening.
