Special security for Fonseka

The Colombo Fort Magistrate today ordered special security for General Sarath Fonseka under the supervision of the Prisons Authority after it was revealed that there were threats to his life as he was the former army commander.

General Fonseka was produced in courts today over the Hicorp arms deal case and was further remanded till June 28th.

During the proceedings, the Magistrate ordered the military police to continue detaining the General in the Navy Headquaters and ordered special security to be deployed. The Magistrate further said that the General should not be transferred to a remand prison as he would face threats due to his position.

The State counsel also accepted that there were threats to the the General's life.
