Southern PC a white elephant - Geetha

Southern Provincial Council is a white elephant and three ministers, including the Chief Minister have used to share its resources; said Provincial Councillor Geetha Kumarasinghe at a news briefing held after the Provincial Council meeting yesterday.

She expressed her inability to render a service to the people as expected, and that it was against her conscience to be remunerated by the Council.

“I entered politics to serve the people but not to earn money. However, the CM and three other Ministers gain advantages. We come to the council, sit and sip tea and go home. Some officers make bus halts and get photographed. The schools in the Bentara area have not received a single rupee. I serve the people of this area with the money obtained from the Central Government. There is a strong mafia inside the council. I am really sad about it,” Ms. Kumarasinghe said. (D.G.
