Son of Mervyn’s secretary allegedly gave weapon

The Kadawatha Acting Magistrate today issued an arrest warrant against the son of Minister Mervyn Silva’s parliamentary secretary in connection with the killing of Kelaniya PS member Hasitha Madawala.

The parliamentary secretary Sarath Kumara Edirisinghe alias Singapore Sarath was earlier granted bail on the advice of the Attorney general.

When the case was taken up yesterday, the CID informed court that the government analyst’s report, on the motor cycle said to have been used by main suspect, said there was evidence of it being modified.

The CID also informed court that during questioning, the suspects had informed the CID that the weapon used in the killing was given to them by the secretary’s son Ishan Edirisinghe.

Investigations had revealed that he had fled the country.

The acting magistrate issued a warrant for his arrest as soon as he arrives in the country

The other three suspects were remanded till April 18. (Dasun Rajapakse and Ganindu Rochana Samaratunga)
