The Kurunegala police have arrested two soldiers including a disabled lance corporal for robbery. The two soldiers had slipped out of the Kurunegala army camp while on duty and had stolen the chain of a lady selling king coconuts.
According to the Kurunegala police the army corporal and lance corporal were not in uniform at the time and had snatched the chain from the lady while riding a motorbike.
One soldier was arrested from the army camp while the other was arrested at his residence. The stolen chain was also recovered. Investigations into the incident are being carried out by SSP Vaas Gunawardena. (Daily Mirror online)
