SLAF assists to douse Knuckles fire

The Sri Lanka Air Force has dispatched a Bell 212 helicopter to help in the efforts of fighting the fire which has broken out in the Welangala area in the Knuckles forest range this morning.

Air Force spokesman Group Captain Andy Wijesuriya said that the SLAF was asked this morning to assist in order to douse the fire which is believed to have come up again.

The fire erupted on Saturday night in the Knuckles Forest Range and an area of 50 acres was completely destroyed due to the forest fire. The officials however managed to douse the fire after a15 hour operation. (SD)
