Sri Lanka says it is paying more attention to cater to the needs of manpower in Qatar for all its projects aimed at the FIFA 2022 World Cup and 2030 Vision, especially to share skilled employees in building stadiums.

Minister for Foreign Employment and Welfare Dilan Perera, who is on an official visit to the Qatar said “All projects would require skill and semi skill personnel which we are ready to provide.”

“We are even ready to open up special training institutes especially for Doha, if investors are willing to come and open up training centre for Doha, well, our ministry is ready to participate in that.”

“We have come to Qatar on a special vision to share with Qatar’s experience we have gained in providing human resources to our own development,” he said.

“The number of skilled and semi skilled Sri Lankan workers  coming to Qatar has increased tremendously, and those are the sectors we would like to work on,” the minister further said.

Minister Perera and a delegation from his ministry who are now on a visit here to attend the Doha Forum, held discussions with recruitment agency representative and officials of various companies yesterday.

The minister explained that Sri Lanka is providing proper training to and developing the English and Arabic language skills of the employees seeking foreign employment.
