SL women have achieved many milestones-First Lady

First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, in her message for International Women’s Day, said that Sri Lankan women had achieved many milestones had set many valuable examples to women in most societies.

Enriched by a great historical and cultural heritage, ethics and education, the women of Sri Lanka, through their strength of character, enjoy a special place among their counterparts worldwide. This special position continues to be enhanced with the passage of time, she said.

“It is the women who suffer most due to conflicts and war in different parts of the world. Today, Sri Lankan women heave a sigh of immense relief as our country has succeeded in defeating the most ruthless terrorist organization in the world, that left a trail of blood in many parts of the island for three decades,” Mrs. Rajapaksa said.
