SL to use Indian facilities

Sri Lanka may use the facilities of the Sports University in India for the training of our sportsmen and sportswomen. External Affairs Ministry sources said this possibility was discussed during bilateral talks between the Sports Minister of Sri Lanka C.B. Ratnayake and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. M.S. Gill.


The sports University of India offers both graduate and undergraduate programmes in sports related disciplines.
The two Ministers along with delegations will soon visit each other to hold further bilateral talks and discuss more cooperation between the two nations in Sports.
 

Minister Ratnayake, while in India for the Commonwealth games, had expressed tot eh Indian Minister Sri Lanka’s need for further assistance in areas related to sports. Meanwhile the Indian Minister had pledged his further support and pleasure at having a large contingent from Sri Lanka for the Commonwealth.
 

These talks come amidst information that Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa is expected to be the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi on October 14. (D.S.)
