SL to assist tsunami-hit Japan

Sri Lanka is to donate 1 million US dollars to Tsunami hit Japan on the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapakse. The President has instructed Treasury Secretary P.B.Jayasundara to take steps to release the money.

In addition to that a special medical team, consisting of Doctors and nurses are to be sent to Japan to treat Tsunami affected people there. ‘A group of specially trained three forces members will be sent to Japan to assist Tsunami recovery operations,’ an official from President’s Office said.
