The Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Authority (SLAEA) would examine water samples from yesterday’s rain to check for any possible radioactivity, an official said.

Head of the SLAEA Prof. Wimaladharma Abeywickrema said that they had already informed the Metrological Department to collect samples from various part of the country.

However, he said no threat of radiation leakage was posed to Sri Lanka following the radiation leakage occurred in the Japanese Nuclear Plant in Fukushima Prefecture. (Thilini de Silva)
