A Sri Lankan asylum seeker accused of sexually assaulting a Sydney university student has had his visa cancelled, The Daily Telegraph can reveal today.

The temporary visa was cancelled on May 3, the day after the Supreme Court granted Daxchan Selvarajah, 21, bail.

"The acting minister cancelled his visa on May 3," his lawyer Ken Robinson, of the Sydney South West Legal Centre, said.

"It is before the Migration Review Tribunal today and we are awaiting a decision".

Selvarajah faced Parramatta Local Court today for a procedural hearing after being charged with indecent assault.

He is alleged to have put his hand down the pyjamas of a sleeping university student at a Macquarie University unit on Februray 21. (Source: The Australian)
