Six dead in two accidents

At least six persons were killed and three were injured in two separate road accidents in Kekirawa and Bandaragama this morning, the Police said.

In Kekirawa, four persons who were travelling in a three-wheeler including two women were killed when the -wheeler collided with a cab on the Anuradhapura Road early on Sunday.

Police said the three-wheeler, traveling from Dambulla to Anuradhapura, collided with the cab which was travelling in the opposite direction.

Police identified the deceased were aged between 42 to 57 were residents of Maharachchimulla, Alawwa and Kokarella.

The driver of the cab had fled the scene and is to be arrested in connection with the accident.

In Bandaragama, two persons were killed and three were injured after two motorcycles collided at Kothalawala Junction this morning.

Police said the injured were admitted to the Panadura and Horana Hospitals.

The deceased were residents of Horana and Ampara, the Police said.(DS)
