Democratic National Alliance (DNA) Leader Sarath Fonseka said today if the UN probes alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka, it would not question those politicians who boast that were ready even to go to the electric chair for the sake of the country, but that it would question him as the former Army commander.

“If the UN holds a formal inquiry regarding alleged war crimes, I am prepared to face any inquiry recognized by the international community for the sake of the people.”

Former Army Chief Sarath Fonseka said even though the government had neglected him as the former Army Commander, it would have to seek his assistance in the future and he would defend the people.

“Keheliya Rambukwella had told a news briefing about the alleged killing of Prabakaran’s son Balachandran that Sarath Fonseka had given the correct answer to that question which means the government would have to accept me as the former Amy Commander even though it is trying to push me aside and neglect me”, he added.(Ajith Siriwardana And Yohan Perera)
