SF cut-short his dock-statement

Jailed Sarath Fonseka was compelled to cut-short his dock-statement today before the Trial-at-bar of the White Flag case due to a sudden cough he experienced while making the statement.

At the onset of his statement Sarath Fonseka contended that the Sunday Leader news item had distorted his statement and he will never betray his country or the army which he dedicatedly served.

The Trial-at-bar judges ordered the Prison authorities that Sarath Fonseka be shown to Dr. Vajira Tennakoon who treated Sarath Fonseka for the throat ailment earlier and subsequently stopped after he was imprisoned. The trial was postponed for May 19.  (TFT)
