A suspect taken into custody in Moratuwa on Sunday in connection with last Friday’s killing of a Homagama factory security guard, is reported to have undergone sex change through plastic surgery in Thailand.

Police said he had been wanted in connection with the killing of the 65-year-old security guard in Katuwana and also over another killing that took place one and a half years ago in Mirihana.

The suspect, believed to be a close relative of the Homagama factory owner, had been employed in a factory in Mirihana when he was allegedly involved in the killing of a colleague one and a half years ago.

They said he had then fled to Thailand where he underwent sex change through plastic surgery.

Investigations have revealed that he had engaged as a female sex worker in Thailand before returning to Sri Lanka.

The suspect was brought to the Mirihana police last evening for further questioning.

A senior police official said the motive of the killings was yet to be established. (Muditha Dayananda and Buddhika Kumarasiri)
