Severe weather warning issued

The Meteorology Department in a severe weather advisory valid for the next 24 hours warned of strong winds over the South-Western parts of the island and the sea areas off the Western and Southern coasts by tomorrow (10) morning.

It said showery weather would continue in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern and North-Western provinces with very heavy rainfalls exceeding 150 mm at some places.

The department said the deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Galle might get very rough and dangerous as the winds could strengthen upto 70 kmph at times.
