A Police Sergeant attached to the Maharagama Police Traffic Division has been arrested for verbally abusing the Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage and blocking his official vehicle at Pamunuwa Junction in Maharagama today.

The Magistrate had lodged a complaint with the IGP, the Judicial Service Commissioner, to the BAR association and the Judges Service Commission in this regard.

The Police Sergeant was arrested by a team officers led by ASP Atapattu, under the direction of Senior DIG Anura Senanayake.

The suspect who was produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate was remanded till April 2. The Court had been informed that the suspect was interdicted. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
