Both the JVP and its dissident groups have decided to hold separate ceremonies to mark the 22nd death commemoration of the party’s founder leader Rohana Wijeweeera.

The dissidents have now decided to hold a series of seminars in view of the death commemoration which will fall on November 13, 2011.

JVP MP Ajith Kumara and former MP S.K. Subasinghe who sided with the dissidents are among the key members slated to address these seminars.  Besides, central committee members Chameera Koswatte, Duminda Nagamuwa and Waruna Deeptha Rajapakse and politburo member Pubudu Jayagoda will also address the seminars.

Sources close to the dissidents said that the seminar series which will kick off from Colombo, tomorrow at the Public Library Auditorium had been themed ‘Comrade Rohana Wijeweera’s legacy which we protect’.

“Altogether, there will be 50 such seminars throughout the country,” sources said.

Besides, the seminar series launched by the JVP under the title ‘The way adopted and the war forward’ is already underway. (Kelum Bandara)
