President Mahinda Rajapaksa has appointed a secret committee to evaluate the conduct and progress of each Ministry during the past few months and submit a report to him.

In the next Cabinet reshuffle scheduled for November, the President is expected to consider the findings of this committee when assigning portfolios. It is likely that there will be changes in portfolios held by some ministers after the next reshuffle.

The reshuffle will take place after the President takes oath for his second term in November. Some UNP MPs and SLMC members who crossed over to the government recently will also get Cabinet portfolios in the new Cabinet. Six UNP MPs and eight SLMC members teamed up with the government to pass the 18th Amendment recently.

Government sources said that some members, who represent the Uva, Wayamba, North Central and Southern Provinces and hold deputy minister posts at the moment, would be appointed as Cabinet Ministers in November.
