Sanga in line for four ICC awards

Kumar Sangakkara is in line to win four awards at this year’s annual ICC awards ceremony to be held in Colombo on September 15.

Sangakkara has made it to the shortlist of nominations for the awards - Garfield Sobers World Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketers of the year, ODI Cricketer of the Year and People’s Choice Cricketer of the Year. He has also been named in the ICC Test Team of the year for the third consecutive time.

Sri Lanka’s Kumar Dharmasena is among the favourites to the win ICC Umpire of the Year award, while Dinesh Chandimal is in the running for the Emerging Cricketer of the Year award. Fast bowler Lasith Malinga has also been shortlisted for the ODI Cricketer of the Year while TIllekaratne Dilshan and Ajantha Mendis have been nominated for the World T20 performance of the Year. This year’s shortlist was announced this morning in Colombo by the ICC Chief Executive Dave Richardson.
