The Government has started advertising details of the salvaged vehicles belonging to civilians which were recovered from such areas as Pudumathalan and Puthukkudiyirruppu so that their rightful owners could get them back.

“The push cycles and motor bicycles were, and are being, repaired at the expense of the Northern Province Provincial Council and around 7000 push cycles have been distributed among the people of the Mulaitivu and Kilinochchi,” Northern Province Governor G.A Chandrasiri told Daily Mirror online, adding that the Security Forces are helping with this procedure.

According to the Governor the documents sent in by the owners of the motor cycles are being assessed and the motor bikes will be handed over in two to three weeks time.

The Governor further added that the handing over of other vehicles will be done by the Security forces. “Reparation of other items like water pumps, spray machines and tractors too underway,” the Governor said, adding that they too will be distributed among the people. (Daily Mirror online)
