Royal wins Bradby first leg

Royal won the first round battle of the 66th Bradby Shield encounter against traditional rivals Trinity with a thrilling 38-37 win in the first leg encounter played at the Royal Sports Complex in Reid Avenue this evening.

The two sides came into the game on equal terms but the Royalists dominated the proceedings in the first half as they took a 23-20 lead at lemons. There after the a ding dong battle prevailed but even then the Royalists had the advantage.

Royal accumulated their points through three goals, three penalties and a drop goal as against three goals, two tries and two penalties by Trinity. The two teams will meet in their second leg encounter in two weeks scheduled to be played at Pallekele.
