Royal were 53 for the loss of one wicket at stumps on day one in reply to the Thomians first innings score of 325/9 at the 133rd Battle of the Blues at SSC. J. Bongso top scored for the Thomians with 97 and he was well supported by A. Wickremanayake who made 85. Royal won the toss and elected to field first.
