In his insistence upon the implementation of constitutional reforms, the convener of the National Movement for Social Justice, the Ven. Maduluwave Sobhitha Thera said that ‘roti’ had to be made when the griddle was heated to the right temperature.

He said the griddle had been heated for President Maitripala Sirisena to make ‘roti’ and not for him to bask in its warmth.

The Thera said that, at the time of the presidential election, he had proposed that Mr. Sirisena implement the constitutional and electoral reforms within six months of his election to office.

“But the president himself promised to do it within 100 days of his election to office,” he said.

The Thera was addressing a function organised by a group called ‘Citizens for Social Justice’. (Diana Udayangani)
