Public health officers conducted a raid on several restaurants in the Fort area today to check on the conditions and hygiene levels in which the food was being prepared.

The raid was conducted on restaurants situated near the Fort railway station and the Pettah vegetable market.

Samples of food from the restaurants were collected by the officers who said that many restaurants were currently preparing food in an unhygienic environment. (Daily Mirror online)
