All major reservoirs have reached their capacity level of 85% as a result of torrential rains lashing several parts of the country, the Irrigation and Water resources Ministry said.

The Ministry warned residents living around the reservoirs to be alert in the event the spill gates had to be opened.

The Ministry said if the prevailing weather continued it would be compelled to open the spill gates of reservoirs including those of Victoria, Kotmale, Rantambe,Castlereagh and Mausakelle.
